Sustainable practices and processes, which go far beyond products, will highlight the 29th edition of INSPIRAMAIS. INSPIRAMAIS is a trade fair that launches more than a thousand materials for the footwear, clothing, furniture, and jewelry industries between January 23 and 24, 2024 at the FIERGS Event Center, in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

The 29th edition of INSPIRAMAIS, a show that is expected to bring together more than 150 exhibitors of inputs and materials that will be visited by 7,000 people from Brazil and around the world, is a promotion of the Associação Brasileira das Empresas de Componentes para Couro, Calçados e Artefatos (Brazilian Association of Leather, Footwear and Artifact Components Companies) (Assintecal) in partnership with the Centro das Indústrias de Curtumes do Brasil (Brazilian Tanning Industries Center) (CICB), the Associação Brasileira da Indústria Têxtil e de Confecção (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) (Abit) and the Associação Brasileira das Indústrias de Mobiliário (Brazilian Furniture Industries Association) (Abimóvel). Natural dye with cassava shavings is featured in INSPIRAMAIS.
One of the highlights of the edition is the presentation of indigenous researcher Sioduhi Piratapuya, who on the first day of the event will present the ManioColor technology, which develops natural dye from cassava shavings.
Sioduhi, indigenous to the Piratapuya people of the Alto Rio Negro (Upper Rio Negro) territory, has been developing the technology for two years and points out that the project is part of raising awareness about the sustainable use of the potential of the Amazon. "We want to show these technologies that already exist in existing chains not only in indigenous territories but also in quilombo (village people) and riverside peoples of the Amazon rainforest," he says. According to him, the dye, which is already applied to fabric in a five-color palette, will soon also be applied to tucum fibers, a sustainable material widely used by populations in the Upper Rio Negro. "At INSPIRAMAIS, we will present the research, from its beginning until now, showing the entire process involved until reaching the application," adds Sioduhi.
