Creating a global tribe of LOOPERS

Who, what, how, when, why interview

WHO :

Elizabeth Faraut – La LOOP Founder

WHAT :

20 years ago La LOOP was born, a high-end accessory to hold your glasses, marrying of form and function. We source materials from across the globe, partnering directly with local suppliers who are experts in their fields. Our leathers come from a fifth-generation mill in Northern Italy, the wood from the Philippines, opal from Brazil, pearls, and shells from New Zealand, and turquoise from New Mexico. The level of craftsmanship and simply the amount of time put into creating each La LOOP accessory makes each piece a work of art.

HOW :

La LOOP began, as so many of the best things do, over lunch. I met a friend for a bite in New York, she was a financial executive and wore her glasses hanging on the loop of a a necklace she’d made in partnership with a 47th Street jeweler. I was a fashion an industry veteran who honed my eye at Figaro Madame, Guerlain, and GUESS, and saw a new style-driven accessory in-the-making. Suddenly, the notion of products that could be functional, yet equally chic, sparked a women-led business. La LOOP, a new category of accessory that merged the elegant clean lines of a necklace with a simple silver circle crafted to hold glasses launched in 1999. Its engineering proved to be so innovative that the company earned a utility and design patent. Soon fashion cognoscente including Vogue’s Tonne Goodman and Barneys’ Simon Doonan began donning La LOOP, eyewear luminary Robert Marc couldn’t keep it in stock.  Armed with a new vision-boosting accessory, a tribe of forward-thinking Loopers quickly began taking shape.

WHY :

From the day La LOOP was conceived to 20 years later, it has created a global tribe of LOOPERS. When Loopers spot one another on planes, in meetings, or across a restaurant, there is a secret acknowledgment that they are LOOPED IN… making a difference, passionate about their communities and pride themselves on style. This is what defines us as a company and motivates me to keep nurturing the brand and its core values. We think seeing is the first step toward looping in, taking action and advocating for change. To celebrate 20 years of LOOPING IN, this September we will be launching a limited-edition special piece, harkening back to the original OG Loop! This La LOOP classic with a special 20th-anniversary twist will be available in a solid sterling or gold petite chain engraved with “LOOP IN”.

WHEN :

1999

WHERE:

Based in Los Angeles, Ca USA, and La LOOP products are sold all over the world.
