I am Stacy Kirk, Founder and CEO.
WHAT did you do?
I founded two tech companies: QualityWorks Consulting Group and Posture. QualityWorks is a software consulting company specializing in digital transformation, web and mobile application development, and software testing. Rated as a top software consulting firm for 2018 & 2019, QualityWorks' solutions for their clients have improved process efficiency and enhanced user experience while saving them thousands in resource cost. Posture helps small or medium-sized businesses combat potential cyber-attacks by quickly establishing or hardening their HIPAA security and privacy program. Having this protection has been particularly important recently, for cyberattacks against healthcare organizations have doubled since the COVID-19 crisis began.
HOW did you do it?
As a young girl growing up in a small suburb of Fort Worth, I always knew that my divine purpose was far greater than what was expected of me. To the teachers and counselors that told me not to apply to a four-year college, I stand here today, fuelled by the degradation of those who doubted me. I was told not to apply myself and because I listened to my inner voice instead of the outer noise, I applied. I was accepted into and received a scholarship to attend Stanford University where I graduated with a degree in Computer Science. I defied stereotypes and quickly rose through leadership in other tech companies. With my experience in leadership positions, I was able to then create two of my own successful tech companies employing over 45% women of color. My end goal was always on my mind and I never lost sight of what I wanted to achieve.
WHEN did you start your company?
I founded QualityWorks in 2010 and Posture in 2019.
WHY are you innovating with this product or service?
I wanted something every business could afford. I wanted to create the QuickBooks of Privacy and Security Compliance. Many thought that solving this for under $100/month was not possible. Fortunately, our rich background in cybersecurity and process automation allowed us to identify commonalities and automate time-consuming procedures. For a new business, focused on growth and managing expenses, this would normally entail hiring a security consultant for $10,000+ to set up a program. Our goal is to help small and mid-sized businesses continue to grow without having to dedicate their limited resources to the regulatory minutia of HIPAA.
