You are the founder of Nopalera, an award-winning Mexican Botanical Bath & Body brand based in New York City, where did the idea of writing a book, come from?

When the publisher first approached me with the idea of writing a book, I initially said no. I felt it was too soon in my journey to take on such a project, as I was still deeply immersed in building Nopalera. But when they explained that the book was meant to be a collection of wisdom from 50 powerful Latinas and they wanted me to lead the charge, I reconsidered. The opportunity to gather and share the stories of incredible women who have overcome challenges, broken barriers, and achieved success was too meaningful to pass up. It wasn't just about my story—it was about creating a platform for the voices of so many inspiring Latinas whose experiences could empower others. That vision aligned perfectly with my mission of elevating our community and sharing our collective strength. So, I agreed, knowing this book would be a powerful tool for inspiring the next generation of leaders.

Tell us, what Viva Latina!: Wisdom from Remarkable Women to Inspire and Empower is about and who is addressed to.

“Rather than letting challenges define me, I’ve chosen to focus on growth, persistence, and the belief that my voice and contributions as a Latina are not just valid but vital to the fabric of this country”

You as a Latina in the USA, what are the biggest challenges that you have faced living in this country?
As a Latina in the USA, I’ve encountered challenges, specifically breaking into the beauty industry and raising capital, both of which do not have enough Latinas in decision-making roles.  However,  I've focused on overcoming them by staying true to my identity and using my heritage as a source of strength.

Instead of seeing obstacles, I’ve always viewed them as opportunities to showcase resilience and creativity. For instance, when I faced cultural barriers or stereotypes, I turned those moments into a chance to educate others and break down misconceptions. By embracing my roots and the richness of my culture, I found ways to connect with others and build bridges.

I also made it a point to surround myself with a supportive community, seeking mentors and allies who believed in my vision. This network has been invaluable in navigating the complexities of life and business in the U.S. Rather than letting challenges define me, I’ve chosen to focus on growth, persistence, and the belief that my voice and contributions as a Latina are not just valid but vital to the fabric of this country.

There are many books about inspiring stories about women, what added value does your book bring?
The added value of Viva Latina! lies in its unique focus on the experiences of powerful, living Latinas who are actively shaping the world today. While there are many inspiring books about women, this book fills a significant gap in the market—specifically, for Latina adults.

The publisher approached me because they saw the need for a book that not only celebrates the achievements of Latinas but also speaks directly to their experiences, challenges, and successes. Unlike children's books that often simplify these narratives, Viva Latina! offers a rich, nuanced collection of stories from 50 remarkable women who are writing their own stories and forging new paths in real time. These are women from diverse fields and backgrounds, all contributing to a new world where Latinas are seen, heard, and respected. The book inspires, yes, but it also offers representation, visibility, and a powerful message that Latina voices are integral to the global conversation. It's a celebration of our collective strength, resilience, and cultural pride.

Anything else you want to add?

I want to emphasize that, Viva Latina! is more than just a book; it's a movement. It gets said a lot, but representation does matter. We are all part of something bigger, and by sharing these stories, we create a ripple effect that can inspire change. I’m incredibly proud of this project, and I’m excited to see how it will impact readers, especially young Latinas who are looking for role models that reflect their own experiences and aspirations. I want to see more Latinas in leadership and decision-making roles across all industries. And I want them all to know they belong there.
