Providing digital education for all kids

Who, what, how, when, why interview

WHO are you?

I am Lisa Love, the CMO, and Co-Founder of Tanoshi, where the mission is to provide an equitable digital education for all kids around the world, no matter their socio-economic background. I oversee the planning, development, and execution of the marketing strategy for Tanoshi.

WHAT did you do?

Developed and launched Tanoshi computers — educational and affordable pre-teen computers pre-loaded with productivity and learning apps, best-in-class parental controls, where the internet is not required. Tanoshi was created to provide a brighter future for all kids.

HOW did you do it?

Not only do we have a seasoned executive team with decades of experience in either education or technology, but the beauty of our team is that most of us have educators in our family. We understand the importance of a quality, early education, which is why we are all very passionate about making sure all kids, no matter their socio-economic background, have a fair chance to succeed.

WHEN did you start your company?

The company was started in 2016. We launched our first product, the Tanoshi 2-in-1 laptop for kids, in 2018.

WHY are you innovating with this product or service?

We have an inequitable education system, which has existed for centuries. Now with COVID…16 million students are without a computer or internet access. 800 million students worldwide. Computers are what textbooks were back in the day. Without a computer, kids will fall behind, which is exactly what is happening in lower-income communities. The digital divide is widening.

WHERE are you from?

I was born and raised in the United States — Los Angeles, CA. I now live in Oakland, CA.
