Latin America Creates a Universal Platform

The first edition, Latin America Fashion Summit

"We were speaking to many young talents on a constant basis and we felt that we should create an organization to educate the young talent and the talent that is coming out." -Estefania Lacayo

With over 15 years of experience in fashion and luxury retail, Estefania Lacayo and Samantha Tams came together to create a platform that will empower, inspire, inform, educate, and challenge individuals from all over the world. For the first time in history, Latin America introduces its first edition of the Latin America Fashion Summit.

The summit will take place at the 4.5 star luxury Hyatt Hotel Andaz Mayakoba Resort in Mexico. The Latin American Fashion Summit will have its three-day forum filled with top A-list fashion industry panelists, including industry guest appearances by executives, editors, top brand buyers, worldwide mentors. The attendees have the opportunity not only to pick brains but also the ability to exchange information and showcase their talents while learning and networking in workshops.

The Latin America Fashion Summit will also introduce its first competition,Pitch to LAFS. Fashion designers will have the opportunity to enroll in a competition where they can pitch and demonstrate their collection and their business to the famous international judges attending the forum. The winner will receive a 10k grant prize to start their business; a styling consultation from Irma Martinez, famous celebrity stylist/Creative Director of Trendy Inc.; a featured photoshoot and video by Mat Media; and the opportunity to share their experiences as a speaker at the conference the following year.

When women come together and work together to make a difference and empower others, magic happens. That is exactly what Lacayo and Tams desire to do not only in Latin America, but also on a universal platform.  "We feel that the world is watching Latin America," says Lacayo.

The Latin American Fashion Summit has appeared in many media outlets internationally, such as Forbes, Vogue, and LatinAmericaPost.com. Being that this is the year of women, it also has become the year where Latin communities worldwide are coming together confidently and making moves in different challenging industries, especially in the fashion world, where many find it discouraging, intimidating, and impossible to be successful.

What makes the Latin American Fashion Summit a powerhouse is its two powerful female founders. Lacayo and Tams are working from New York and Mexico to inspire future generations.
