The Creative Women Platform is a place for you to meet innovators, thought leaders and women holding top positions who share their proven tools and strategies and, also, invaluable experience inspiring to believe in yourself to take the next steps to becoming a true leader in your industry. I talked to the chair of Georgia chapter Mako Abashidze about a very important event coming soon and her work in the British Georgian Chamber of Commerce.

You are the Chair of Creative Women in Georgia, tell us more about this platform?

For me it is a great honor to be a Chair of Creative Women in Georgia. Creative Women Platform was founded by Olga Balakleets in 2016 and I had a great pleasure to be invited at the first event in Cyprus. CEO and Director of this platform is Dr.Viola Edwards.

Main goals and activities of this platform:

  • CW is planning to have activities around the globe with many international heads and with events being organized in those countries including Georgia which will include own online webinars and soon live events with international speakers and business leaders paying visits to Georgia. Events will be focused on business, entrepreneurship, investment, startups, wellbeing and much more.
  • We are running our Online Expert talk series with female celebrities and top business leaders who will share their stories of their success and will answer questions of our members
  • We will have our Membership Scheme available on different levels – a kind of business boutique concierge with an exclusive touch which will involve personal introductions – this is coming in the next few weeks
  • Out own mentorship/wellbeing programme for our members with the top specialists in this area
  • Startups competitions by Creative Women for new businesses to get a chance to young female entrepreneurs

You founded the British Georgian Chamber of Commerce,  where did this idea come from and what was its purpose?

I was born in Georgia, graduated as a psychologist and accomplished my PHD studies in Tbilisi and then moved to the UK, London in early 90th.

At the beginning of my career in London I was working in private sector in the international companies. Being based in the UK I was always closely attached to Georgia. I always believed that Georgia and Britain can benefit from a closer trading and commercial connections, there was no official bilateral Chamber of Commerce to support the trade between our countries before.

In 2007 with the great support of Lord Cromwell, Georgian and British Embassies we founded The British Georgian Chamber of Commerce. BP is the Founder Member of the BGCC since a first year. Since then, BGCC hosted over 80 events in the UK and Georgia, initiated trade missions, press trips - all to promote the business opportunities and commerce between our countries.

BGCC is a non-political trade body to facilitate business growth and contacts at all levels between UK and Georgia. BGCC’s experience, knowledge and diverse network of members mean that we are uniquely placed to facilitate activities essential to business development. With offices and affiliates in London and Tbilisi, BGCC brings together decision makers from both private and public sectors to share information and create opportunities.

You are organizing an event for November 5 to 7, 2021 in Georgia, can you mention the name of some keynote speakers, the program,  activities, etc.?

The Creative Women Assembly in Georgia is a unique business networking event.  This event is under the High Patronage of the President of Georgia Ms.Salome Zurabichvili. Ms. Salome Zurabichvili is  truly incredible lady-  born in Paris into a family of emigrants from Georgia, she made a brilliant diplomatic career in France, but she always dreamed of returning to her historical homeland. She returned in 2004 as a politician and went from opposition leader to head of state and became a first female president of Georgia and first female president in the region.

We are very privileged to have President as a Patron and the host of this event! Future plan is  to make  a Creative Women Assembly  in Georgia an annual regional global event. It will bring together female leaders and business owners from around the world. The Assembly will be hosted in Georgia, with its vast historical and cultural heritage. The business programme will be enriched with sight-seeing tours, food tastings and other opportunities to absorb this country’s fine traditions.

The Assembly agenda will include presentations, workshops, and networking events. These will culminate in an exclusive event to be held at the Presidential Palace in Tbilisi and hosted by the first female president Mrs Salome ZourabichviIi.

The Creative Women Assembly in Georgia offers a fantastic opportunity to explore this beautiful country, make local and international business contacts on the highest level and learn the creative way of living and doing business, as CREATIVE WOMEN do!

What does the Creative Women event make unique compared to others in the market?

Creative Women Platform unites female leaders and decision makers who look at something from a completely new perspective and think creatively.
